Kinetic Typography & Momentum Physics in Creative Direction
Translating tactile editorial sensibilities into subpixel font rendering and physics-based Lenis scrolling.

Project Overview
A published, active portfolio website designed and developed by Nordwright for art director and photographer Esben Lysmand. Built around physics-based scroll inertia, dynamic typographic scaling, and liquid glass depth layers that treat digital space as a tactile gallery.
The Challenge & Technical Solution
Standard web animation libraries frequently drop frames on high-refresh rate displays or desynchronize when navigating heavy image galleries. The mandate was 60fps locked inertia scrolling with custom easing curves and fluid typographic responsiveness across all mobile and desktop viewports.
Architectural Strategy & Implementation
Lenis virtualized scroll engine integrated with custom RAF ticker keeping animation loops decoupled from layout recalculations.
Bespoke variable font axes dynamically weighting typography based on scroll velocity and viewport position.
Hardware-accelerated CSS transform matrix for stutter-free image scale transitions.
GPU-composited overlay layers delivering smooth glass reflections with zero CPU repaint penalty.
Delivered Outcomes
“Motion should feel like mass and friction, not artificial easing. Calibrating physics constants to human physical intuition transforms an editorial website from a flat page into an architectural artifact.”
